Audience-First Communications

Who are we trying to reach?
What action do we want them to take?

One of the most valuable lessons I've learned throughout my career is that successful communications rarely start with the message itself. They start with understanding the audience.

When partnering with leaders on large transformation initiatives, I help them move beyond simply sharing information and focus on creating understanding, building trust, and driving action.

I believe there is no single communication channel that solves every challenge. Instead, I develop multi-channel communication strategies that meet people where they are and reinforce key messages over time.

Depending on the initiative, this may include:

  • Executive presentations and "walking decks" that help leaders align on priorities and communicate consistently.

  • Podcasts, town halls, and Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions that create transparency and allow employees to engage directly with leadership.

  • Employee spotlights and milestone stories that celebrate progress and build momentum.

  • Targeted campaigns that reinforce key messages across multiple channels.

  • Ongoing communication plans that support long-term adoption and organizational change.

My role is to help leaders answer fundamental questions:

  • Who are we trying to reach?

  • What do they need to know?

  • What action do we want them to take?

  • How will we know if it's working?

By answering these questions first, we can build communication strategies that turn complex initiatives into meaningful experiences that people understand, support, and act upon.
